Gloucestershire Tour 2006. “Crazy Trousers.”
Blessed with blazing weather all week the crazy trousers tour provided a feast of cricket for everyone.
Sunday Shurdington 40 overs game. LTCC cracked off with Ollie(31) hitting 17 in the first over. Steve scored 12 when he was bowled with the score on 43 in 7 overs. Shok and Owen both out for 0, Ollie out with 49 on the board. Chris V 4 left LTCC on 55 for 5 in the 11th over. Rescue came from Dan 36 and Andy Page 47 who put on 88 for the 6th wicket and Rich H 46no who with the tail of Mick M 1, Andrew 4 and Stew 14 took the total to 217 all out off the last ball.
Phil 5 overs 1 for 25 and Rich H 8 overs 0 for 22 opened the attack. Chris V had a good spell 8 overs 2 for 30, Andy Page 5 overs 2 for 31, Dan weighed in with 4 for 33 from 6 overs and Stew 5.1 overs 1 for 22. Great day for catching as 8 were taken. Phil, Chris, Rich, Andy, Owen, Shok and Dan 2. Shurdington 172 all out in 37th over.

Monday Down Hatherley 40 overs game. LTCC 117 for the 1st wicket with John M 55 and Steve 67 giving us a great start. Shok 40 off 40 balls and Ollie 44 off 29 balls helped the score rattle on. Mick M 13no and Andy P 11 plus extras took the total to 264 for 4 on this lovely batting track.
Rich 8 overs 0 for 41 in two spells did not reflect how well he bowled. Whereas Tony’s 8 overs 2 for 29 did not reflect how badly he bowled! C&B plus a stumping by Dan. Ollie dropped a catch off his Dad, again! Chris 6 overs 1 for 44, catch for John M and Mick M 8 overs 2 for 40 both had tidy spells. At 115 for 3 off 23 overs DH were still in the hunt but Andy P 6 overs 3 for 23 (catch for Rich) plus a run out reduced them to 175 for 9. Steve 2 overs for 11 and Shok 1 ball 1 wicket ended the game with DH 180 all out in the 39th over.
Grand social evening with a few bar games for the new tourists to enjoy.

Tuesday Woodpeckers another 40 over game.
The giant paddling pool was the main attraction on arrival which Rich promptly jumped in.
Zaheer gave only 1 chance in his 85 according to him but gave 9 chances! Still a dominating knock. Phil 14, Steve 4, Chris V a useful 45, Owen 4, Rich a blistering 65 (8 fours and 3 sixes), 11no from Andrew, Andy P 2 and Mick M 8no took us to a solid 261 for 7.
Woodpeckers were confident in being able to knock the runs off as they had lots of batsmen in form. Andy P 7 overs 2 for 45, Stew 8 overs 2 for 19, Phil 5 overs 3 for 15, Tony 3.2 overs 2 for 17 and a run out left Woodpeckers 98 all out in 23 overs. C&B for Stew, Andy P, Catches for Mick M, Chris V and 2 for Andrew behind the stumps.
After the game wibbly wobbly through the pool and sumu wrestling in the pool provided entertainment and a few minor injuries.

Wednesday UNISON on the hottest recorded July day. LTCC had to field 1st! Thanks Mark.
Rich 8 overs 3 for 31 was the pick of the bowlers. Tony a tight spell of 8 overs 0 for 23, Phil 1 for 47 from 6, Dan 1 for 18 off 4, Stew 6 overs 0 for 22 and Mick M 4 overs 2 for 33 made up the bowling team. 2 catches for John M, 1 each for Phil, Tony, Steve. UNISON 186 for 7 all out in the 37th over.
Ollie 40 and Steve 108no got us off to a 107 opening stand. Dan a laboured 5, Owen 0, Phil 2 produced a mini slump but Rich H 21no in a well paced innings which meant Steve reached his well deserved 100 took us to victory in the 33rd over. LTCC 188 for 4.

Thursday Westbury on Severn. 42/38 overs game. Shok 10 and Zaheer 58 took the score to 48 before Shok was out. Zaheer out with the score on 84. Chris 20, John M a solid 54, Dan 10, Rich H 12, Andy P a valuable 32no off 16 balls, Owen 0 with 4 balls to go, Phil 4 and Ollie 0no. LTCC 222 for 8.
Stew 8 overs 0 for 26 and Rich 8 overs 0 for 22 kept it tight. Phil bowled well to take 3 for 26 from 6 overs. Andy P took a bit of tap going for 26 in 3 overs. Dan 6 overs for 55 also being expensive. Zaheer 5 overs 1 for 32 tried to steady the ship as Westbury closed in on the total. Chris V came on for 2 overs at the death going for 20 but Westbury were only on 215 for 4 at the end of the 38th over match drawn, a good game of cricket.
Once again a great social evening provided by our hosts.

Friday Frampton. 40 overs game.
Normal 4s and 6s on this narrow but long ground produced interesting fielding positions.
Ollie 52 and Steve 130 no put on 105 for the 1st wicket in 17 overs. Andrew 18, Mick M 16 run out! Andy P 20 and Owen 17no gave us a record breaking tour total of 282 for 4.
Chris V 5 overs for 39 and Tony 8 overs for 65 could not contain the aggressive openers. Phil 6 overs 1 for 41 a catch for George, and Stew great figures of 8 overs 3 for 23 pulled us back in the game. Mick M 4 overs for 32 and George 5 overs 1 for 49 let them back in the game with a glimmer of hope. 2 dropped catches and sloppy fielding by the same played didn’t help our efforts. Andy P 4 overs 1 for 27 had to bowl the last over with 15 needed. Dot, dot, 6, 6, 1, 2 Frampton won off the last ball 283 for 6. Exciting game shame we lost.
Good tour won 4, drew 1 lost 1.
Andy P got most rabbits on the run up to the hotel 7, Swallows Tail won the clay pigeon shoot don’t mess with them! Batter of the Tour Steve, Bowlers Phil and Stew, Fielder Owen and Man of the tour shared by Rich H and Ollie. Thanks to everyone for making it another great week.
