SunSaturday 29th July 2006. Old Wyvernians Home. 45/40 overs.
OW decided to bat first. Ian 10 overs 2 for 30, good catch for Jay and one in the slips for Zaheer accounted for the 2 openers and Tony 10 overs 0 for 22 restricted the visitors to 59 off the first 20 overs. Stew took 2 early wickets in his 8 over spell for 42. Mick M was a bit expensive going for 40 in 5 overs. Brian the destroyer 6.4 overs 4 for 28 and Dale 3 overs 3 for 15 reduced OW to 174 all out in 43 overs. Catch for Mick M. Andrew 3 stumpings and a catch supported the bowlers.
Ollie 18 and Zaheer 99 opened LTCC reply. Owen 0 left us on 39 for 2 in the 10th over. A solid 71 partnership between Jay 19 and Zaheer took the total to 110 for 3 in the 21st over. Mick M 8 and Stew 5 helped take the score to 158. Zaheer being bowled with the score at 164. Andrew 13 not out and Tony 1 not out saw LTCC to victory in the 35th over.
day 23rd July 2006. Ashton Wold Away.
40 overs game.
Team set off in the Tour Bus, in rain.
LTCC invited to bat first after Tony lost the toss. Ollie 57 was the main stay of the sides batting. Philip 8 opened with him. Mike B 9 and Amos 8 perished on this variable and slow wicket. A useful knock of 28 by Chris P helped us to 116 off 22 overs before he was bowled. Andy P 11 then Ollie was out to a low ball with the score on 149 in the 29th over. John M 25no lost Owen for 4 and Dale 0 before Andrew 14no put on 37 to give a reasonable total of 197 for 8.Phil 5 overs, 4 maidens 1 for 4 had a fine opening spell. John taking a fine catch in the gully.
Tony 8 overs 1 maiden 3 for 30 made inroads into Ashton’s batting. Bowling the other opener, Andrew catching the number 3 and John taking another fine catch in the gully. Dale 6 overs 1 for 34 was unlucky not to have 3 more wickets as people dropped catches. Andy P was rather expensive 4 overs for 34. Mike B being the pick of the wicket takers 5.4 overs 4 for 15. Catches for Owen and Andy P. Owen 3 overs for 17, Amos 4 overs for 24 and Ollie 3 overs for 9. Eight players had a bowl in this good team effort. Ashton 170 all out in 39 overs.
Good sing song on the bus home.
Sunday 9th July 2006 Kibworth

John hitting 14 fours and Ollie 17 fours and a six. Both reached their 50s within an over of each other. Neither gave a real chance on a beaut of a wicket. Mick declared after 38 overs.
Kibworth lost their first wicket in the 3rd over a catch in the gully for John M the 1st of 3. Andy H being the bowler 8 overs 1 for 8. Dale bowled tidily 5 overs for 16. Winning draw played in good spirit.
Saturday 8th July 2006. Nevil Holt
Home 42/38 overs game.
LTCC had first knock. George 0 and Mike B 64 opened. John M 46 and Mike put on 97 for the 2nd wicket before John was out to a dreadful bowler, 5 wides full toss, wicket off what would have been another wide if John hadn’t reached so far. Mick M 9. Some lusty blows from John P 15, Andy P 13 in 7 balls, Amos 15, Stew 0no and Chris V 4no. LTCC 194 for 7.
Clem 8 overs 3 for 34 and Stew 8 overs 1 for 34 reduced Nevil Holt to 34 for 4, catch for John M and Mick M behind the wickets. Sadly that was the end of the wicket taking as Gamble 81no and Paul Hughes 89no knocked off the runs 195 for 4, with 5 overs to spare.
Sunday 2nd July 2006. Dorchester Home
42/38 overs game.
LTCC batted first with Zaheer taking 16 from the 1st over. Ollie clipped a nice 4 in the 2nd, LTCC 23 off 2 overs. The 2 openers prospered as they put on 65 for the first wicket in 11 overs before Ollie was bowled for 15. Dan 15 and Zaheer put on 54 for the 2nd wicket before Z fell for 67 with the score on 117 in the 20th over. Dan stumped at the same score. Mike B 13 and Phil 7 added 20. Chris P 20 and John M 13 were going well before John ran himself out. Jay a goldie, John N 12, Ian 0 and Chris V 9no gave LTCC a below par 200 all out.
Phil 5 overs for 37 bowled ok but had 21 hit off hit 5th over. Chris V 7 overs 2 for 25 bowled with good control, catches for Ian and Dan. Mike B went for 33 in 3 overs 1 wicket catch for Chris V. The final 21 overs shared between Zaheer 12 overs 4 for 38 (18 coming off his last over) and Ian 11 overs 1 for 65. Zaheer 2 catches, Dan taking 2 at the wicket. Dorchester needed 15 off the last over and 4 off the last ball to win, a 6 was hit and Dorchester won.
Nice tea by Chris P. More batting application needed LTCC should have had 240 with the start they were given.
Saturday 1st July 2006. Houghton on the Hill Home.
40/38 overs game.
11am start so that people could watch England get knocked out of the world Cup.
Houghton batted first on a hard bouncy wicket. Andy P 6 overs 1 for 14 got good lift and pace with George plucking a one handed catch at point. Tony 7 overs for 18 beat the bat a few times but didn’t look all that dangerous. Simon replaced Andy and took some tap going for 29 in his first 2 overs and 42 in 4 overs. Owen took a low catch off him at cover. Stew another economical spell of 8 overs 1 for 25 with Tony pouching a skied catch at 1st slip. All the time Houghton were totting up the runs. Dale 5 overs for 23, Brian 5 overs for 29 and George 5 overs 1 for 37, a catch for John M and a good run out by Simon. Houghton 202 for 5 off 40 overs.
Abject batting by LTCC saw the team slip to 36 for 5 after 10 overs. Mick M 6, John M 16, Owen 0, George 0 and Simon 1 all back in the hutch, Houghton players comment “should be any problem seeing the start of the England game.” A stand of 36 between Andy P 22 and Andrew 35no took the score to 72 for 6 in the 21st over. Another valuable stand of 48 with Stew 21 and Andrew took us to the 33rd over. Brian 7no and Andrew took us to 131 for 7 and the draw. Good rear guard batting by the tail. Massive pork pie and iced bun tea provided by Brian. Shame about the football.
Sunday 25th June 2006. Buckminster Away.
40 overs game.
Buckminster batted first and got off to a flyer rattling up 42 off 7 overs before Amos took a good catch off Tony. Stew and Chris V put the brakes on their innings Stew 8 overs 4 for 22 and Chris 8 overs 0 for 28. Mick M 4 overs for 27, Mike B 4 overs for 36 and Amos 2 overs for 30 all suffered as Buckminster rattled up 229 for 6. Andy P had a 2 over spell at the end claiming 1 for 41 from 8. Tony 6 overs 1 for 41 had the last over, Ollie dropped a catch off dad, again!
Ollie 19 and John M 6 opened for LTCC. Ollie out with the score on 27. Mike B 13, Chris P 0, Amos the only batting bright spot hit 30. Andy P a massive 6 before being C&B for 10, Steve 0, Mick M 1, Tony 7, Chris V 12 and Stew 18no. LTCC 132 all out. Dismal batting on a good track against a good side. Excellent tea and good social in the bar.
Saturday 24th June 2006. Mossdale Home
42/38 overs game. Adjusted to 37/35.
Zaheer won the toss and allowed Mossdale to bat first. Ian 5 overs for 21 and Chris 4 overs for 16 opened the bowling. Tony 4 overs for 20 and Zaheer 3 overs for 12 were early changes. Amos 3 overs for 25. Mossdale progressed to 113 in the 22nd over when James made the breakthrough, bowling the opener who was on 61. Sadly it was not the only break that he got. Whilst going (and taking) a catch off Brian, Chris V crashed into him. The clash of shins, breaking James’ left leg. Brian recorded the longest LTCC over of 1 hour whilst we waited for the ambulance. After much gas and air James was taken to the LRI. Brian created havoc with the batsmen taking 7 for 35 in 8 overs, being on to potential hat-tricks and having 3 catches dropped. It’s the first 5fer in Brian’s career. Well done El Presidente. Mossdale went to tea on 191 for 8 in 37 overs.
Grand tea provided by Clem.
LTCC got off to a bright start with Zaheer taking 15 off the first over and going on to make 65 before he holed out at deep square leg. Chris 6 his opening partner was caught off a full toss with the score on 19 in the 3rd over. Owen 13 was finally caught after being dropped twice with the total on 80 in the 13 over. John M 4 fell caught off a leading edge. LTCC 92 for 3 in the 16th over. Z out with the score on 100 in the 18th over. A bright partnership of 47 between Jay 19 and Amos 27 (including five 4s) took the score to 147 in the 29th over but both were out at that score. Dale managed 1. Andrew 3no and Tony 5no saw us safely to a draw on 157 for 7 in the 35th over.
