Sunday 27th August 2006. Langtons away. 42/38 overs game.
Mick won the toss and invited Langtons to bat first on a green top.
Phil 6 overs 0 for 21 and Ian 9 overs 1 for 21 opened the attack. Ian picked up a wicket in his first over bowling the opener. Langtons made slow progress to 38 off 15 overs when first Stew (10 overs 2 for 26) a stumping for Chris P and Amos then claimed the first of his 4 wickets in 9 overs for 27. Andy H affected a good run out with a direct hit from point. Langtons on 90 for 6 off 30 overs were never able to build a big total as Mick M 3 overs 1 for 8, Amos and Andy H 0.2 overs 1 wicket mopped up the tail. We bowled 21 wides!! Langtons all out 114 in the 38th over.
LTCC lost Ollie in the first over for 0, George in the 5th over for 10, Rich L for 8, Mick M 0. LTCC 27 for 4 in the 9th over. Andy H hit some glorious shots scoring 28 before becoming Tim Duckworth’s 5th victim. The ball was swinging and jagging off the seam for the first 15 overs, then the sun came out and some of the exaggerated movement was reduced. John M 27 and Phil 32 not out played carefully and sensibly then with growing confidence to take the score to 113 with a stand of 65 when John was out lbw. Chris P and Phil stayed whilst 2 wides were given to reach our target. 115 for 6 in 30 overs. A good performance given the shaky start.
Mick’s last game of the season as he is due for an op’ next Friday, we all hope it goes smoothly.
